UniSPORT's stunning climbing facility in Guildford features a 190 ft traverse, bouldering tunnel, slab, crack, chimney and an overhang. Extensions into an adjacent room also give climbers several routes to explore and improve their overhang and bouldering techniques. All of this makes The Vertex, a fantastic climbing adventure in Guildford and the South East of England.
The Vertex provides a social area, with drinks and snack machines and the Sports Centre sells all the relevant equipment for indoor climbing in its well equipped sports shop.

Membership details, beginners/novices coaching and equipment hire information
Membership: On your first visit to The Vertex you will automatically become a member. You will be provided with the unique Vertex climbing card which costs just £2.50
The Vertex annual membership is now available at £160.00 p.a. (or £16 per month by direct debit).
Coaching: Individual and group coaching is available from our experienced and qualified coaches. Equipment is provided. Prices and availability on request from Mark White.
Beginners/Novices: The Vertex policy is to actively encourage new climbers. However, beginners or inexperienced climbers must be signed in by an experienced climber, using our Supervisor Form.
Equipment Hire: The Vertex does not provide any equipment hire. However all top ropes on the wall are provided. Basic equipment for use on the wall can be purchased from the Sports Centre shop.

School & Group Bookings
UniSPORT & the Vertex have been working with schools, adventure groups and youth groups in and around Guildford for over 15 years offering excellent and professional climbing sessions. These have formed part of their school sessions and helped improve their own personal and physical development. Climbing can support those children who feel excluded from normal sporting arenas and offer them the chance to build self confidence and achievement.

The Vertex take many schools from Guildford and Surrey for climbing sessions ranging from one off group sessions to 6-7 week blocks coaching students the basics of climbing as part of their GCSEs. The sessions can be booked during or after school hours and during the weekends.

Group Bookings
As well as schools the Vertex can also be booked out for birthday parties, corporate team building, venture groups/clubs or just a group of friends. Hiring of coaches is worked out at 1 coach per 6 climbers and this will need to be booked in advance.

If you are considering bringing a group of your own without the need of our instructors please be aware that there is a limit of 2 groups on the wall at any one time (this is in addition to individual climbers). Please ring and book your group in before arriving.

Gecko's Children's Club
Saturday morning club for enthusiastic climbers in Guildford aged 8 - 16yrs. The Vertex has been running its Geckos Climbing Club since 1997, giving children the chance to experience and enjoy climbing in a safe and competent environment. All Geckos coaches are qualified and equipment is provided.Sessions are split between age groups and are open to all abilities from the complete novice to the more advanced climbing. It is advised for all participants to wear lose clothing and trainers. Sessions are geared towards a competency level to further increase their climbing and personal development. Parents of all participants are required to complete a 'Parental Consent Form' before joining in the sessions. Further Information
