Climbing

The Vertex Climbing Wall has been one of the best climbing facilities in the county for over 10 years. Originally a few bricks around the balcony the Vertex has developed over the years eventually converting an unused squash court to provide many different challenges for climbers of all abilities. Features include over 190ft. traverse wall, bouldering wall and tunnel, slab, crack, and overhangs. The Vertex offers 33 top roped climbs including 4 new ones of varying degrees of difficulty. 

Geckos Climbing Club

Started in 1997 when the squash court conversion of the wall was completed the Geckos Climbing Club has been responsible for introducing climbing to hundreds of youngsters who have wanted to try something away from the traditional sports in an enjoyable and safe environment. All students work towards our own bronze, silver and gold awards. All the instructors are qualified and CRB checked.   A parental consent form must be completed before students can join in the sessions. The session are split into two sessions.

Climbing Parties:  

You are able to book vertex climbing wall for your children’s birthday parties. Over the last 15 years birthday parties have grown in popularity at the Vertex. You can book any time, we will do our best to accommodate the times that suit you.

Climbing with Schools:

The Vertex has been working with schools, adventure and youth groups for over 15 years, offering excellent and professional climbing sessions. These sessions have helped many young people improve their own personal and physical development and has help support those children who have been or who feel excluded from normal school arenas and offers them the chance to build self confidence and achieve. These session can be just one off session or 6-8 week block bookings, coaching students the basics of climbing as part of their GCSE’s.
